The Challenge
The fast growth of technology cannot be denied. With or without wanting, we have been enveloped into these continuous developments. Gaining access to the internet world has been made easy with electronic devices such as Desktop, laptops, smart phones, tablets etc. It has been much easier for parents and loved ones to purchase the above than have a total control on what teenagers and youths see, do, who they meet, what they talk about, what their experiences are and how it affects their decisions, actions in life and in our society. Teenagers and Youths are the most exposed and affected by dangers of the internet such as: Hate speech, Negative Influence, Pornography, Online Sexual Harassment, Cyber Bullying, Sexism, Scamming, Racism, Internet addiction etc.
Social media has become a world on its own where not only the Youths or Teenagers can be victims or perpetrators of the various dangers but adults too. If we all use social media platforms and the internet responsibly, having some empathy in our actions and taking in to consideration those we interact we, then we will defiantly create a safe digital space for ourselves, our children, and the future generation.
Since its creation, we have focused on providing the Youths of Cameroon with insightful trainings on how to positively use the internet and social for their personal growth, career and community development. We have been able to train more than20,000 thousand youths from plus 18 secondary schools and 3 Universities in Cameroon.
We have provided follow-up to youths and teenagers who have experienced Cyber bullying online, online sexual Harassment, etc. Our personal follow-up sessions help rebuild their confidence, teach them how to avoid falling in to depression, and how to move forward after such challenging experiences.
